Following its statement last year that Medal of Honor's reboot multiplayer will kick Call of Duty, EA is now saying that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 as its "first" attack on Activision's game.Speaking to
MCV, EA Europe’s senior VP Jens Uwe Intat says, "In March we will launch
Battlefield: Bad Company 2, which is our first strong attack on
Call of Duty."
You've got to figure that he's talking for stockholder's ears... especially when he says, "The shooter space is one we don’t want to give up. It’s an important genre and we were the number one."
Yup, not straightforward "shooter games" but oh-so-BS, "shooter space". There's more.
"So we are certainly working on how we can get that crown back and
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is an important product in that context. The franchise is strong, with a good product record. If any of our studios can take on
Modern Warfare then it’s DICE."
We'd yell "Fight!" or something, but frankly we just hope that all the games are good.
