PlayStation Home Gets MMO Starts 'Virtual Goods Business'
So, hands-up if you've been slightly less than enthused about PlayStation Home of late? Right. Well, a new MMO-ish game called Sodium One is coming to the US servers at least. We're checking with SCEE to see if PAL territories are going to get the game.

According to Venture Beat, "Sodium One (is) the first stage of a 3-D game world that is the beginnings of a massively multiplayer online virtual world. It’s kind of like a virtual world within the virtual world of Home. In Sodium One’s action game, Salt Shooter, you can hop in a sci-fi tank and shoot a bunch of enemy vehicles in a 3-D landscape that resembles a sunny Nevada desert."

Developed in Nottingham by Outso, the game enables you to gain resources and then trade those in to "buy items such as virtual clothing or improvements to your vehicle. You can play five levels of Salt Shooter for free, or you unlock more of the experience with payments ranging from 99 cents to $4.99."

Jack Buser, director of PlayStation Home, is quoted as saying that this "is the beginning of a virtual goods business model in Home."

He then goes a little OTT, “We’ve evolved Home into a true social gaming platform. We are poised to take a leadership position in social games with Home.”

We'll see.
