It appears that new ideas are simply too scary for Hollywood and its affiliates. So, in a bid to get Disney's 2010 Tron: Legacy 3D movie into the minds of 'the kids', Disney Interactive is bringing out the game called Tron: Evolution.
Hell, why not? Recent nostalgia outings (or even 'reboots') such as Beatles: Rock Band, Alone in the Dark, Ghostbusters and Prince of Persia have all added to our lives.
The puff for Tron: Evolution - which will probably get a name change in middle America anyway - has it that, "TRON: Evolution is an action/adventure game being created for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC. Developed by Propaganda Games, Disney Interactive Studios’ action and role-playing game studio in Vancouver, British Columbia, TRON: Evolution is scheduled for release in Holiday 2010 before the TRON: Legacy film arrives in theatres".
Dan Tudge, vice president and general manager, Propaganda Games says, "Because Propaganda Games is based in Vancouver, which was the site of the film’s principal photography, we were able to leverage the proximity to continuously collaborate with the filmmakers and ensure authenticity between the two projects."
We translated this as, "We were in the same town as the film crew, so we talked".
Then a chap called Craig Relyea, (senior vice president of global marketing, Disney Interactive Studios) apparently goes absolutely mental and drivels, "TRON is the most revered video game-inspired film property of all time. TRON: Evolution, the video game, will enhance the TRON experience for existing fans of the franchise as well as an entirely new audience."
Come on now, Craig! "Revered"? Okay, "much loved" or "mistily-eyed forgetting how poor the acting was" or "old" maybe, but "Revered"... anyway Last Starfighter was better.
