It’s Friday, and that means it’s New Game Day! Nintendo also celebrates the special occasion by updating its WiiWare and DSiWare stores today, offering several new bite-sized titles to pass the time away before you head out to ‘the club,’ or whatever it is you kids do on a Friday night.

Headlining the DSi downloads this week is Mighty Flip Champs (800 Points), a game where you keep maze explorer Alta alive by flipping upcoming chambers to the top screen so she doesn’t get crushed under solid ground. Reflect Missile (500 Points) is described as an ‘action, puzzle and strategy’ game which sees you strategically destroying enemy blocks using missiles.

On WiiWare, Copter Crisis (500 Points) puts you in a rescue chopper as you respond to a wide variety of emergency situations. The Wii Remote is your control stick and you must guide your copter through the Black Rock Canyon, avoiding rocks and surviving severe weather conditions yourself. Dragon Master Spell Caster (500 Points) is a poet and it didn’t even know it - defeat the Dragon Lords in this arcade battler and choose one of four different paths to do it. There’s a two player split-screen mode as well, for those with friends.

If these don’t tickle your fancy, WiiWare has a couple more new games in the form of Rabbids Lab (500 Points) and Solitaire (500 Points). The former lets you interact with a Raving Rabbid by poking him and doing all sorts of other crazy stuff with the Wii Remote, while the latter provides a big-screen version of the card game classic.

Those wanting some retro action might be disappointed though, as the only offering this week is Shanghai II Dragon’s Eye on Sega Mega Drive (800 Points). It’s basically Mah-Jongg in 16-bit form. With dragons, presumably.
