Who said the PC Beta of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was cancelled? Anyone? Come on, put your hands up. Well, it turns out you were wrong, as DICE has officially announced on its blog that; “the BFBC2 PC Beta is not cancelled.” Couldn’t get plainer than that really.

Flames were fanned when a recent Battlefield blog post omitted details of the home computer Beta - this led people to believe that the preview had been binned entirely, but it turns out that it has simply been delayed to make it beefier than its recent console counterpart.

“With the success of the PS3 Beta we decided to drastically increase the PC Beta’s capacity to insure as many people as possible could participate,” said GordonVanDyke on the DICE blog. Improved features include 32 players online (as opposed to 24), peripheral support for a wide range of controllers, and a ‘Dedicated Ranked Server’ program on top of clan support and private servers. Direct X 11 support was also confirmed.

No concrete date was announced for the PC Beta other than “very early next year”, but with all of these improvements to be implemented over the PS3 version, the wait will most surely be worth it.
