Ubisoft U-Play in Assassin's Creed

New way to stay close to your fave French developer

Ubisoft U-Play in Assassin's Creed
Assassin’s Creed II on console comes with U-Play built in. What's U-Play aside from a nice name? It's a way of staying tied closely to Ubisoft via its games. Think of it as a loyalty card or like being paid in currency that can only be used in the shop run by the owner of the factory you work in.

The official blurb is that it's "Ubisoft’s online destination where gamers are at the centre of a connected gaming universe that will be developed around four primary services: Uplay Win, Uplay Help, Uplay Share and Uplay Shop. The Uplay Beta is only launching with Uplay Win so far."

"Connected gaming universe" sounds very grand and universal. Over on the U-play site there's every marketing buzzword and phrase you could imagine. But what are the facts:

"Uplay Win enables players to collect units based on their actions in the games and exchange them for rewards such as exclusive in-game content or goodies.

"Uplay Win’s Units can also be gathered cross platform: PC,360, PS3.

"For those who don’t want to redeem their units right away, they can save them to use on other games such as the upcoming Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction and many more to come."

For Assassin's Creed II specifically, you can get "a real Altaïr costume and exclusive in-game content such as access to the Auditore Family Crypt are among the rewards offered through Uplay Win."

We want a 'real' Altair costume especially that flick-dagger!
