Okay, so contrary to reports, EA is not 'shutting down' The Saboteur developer Pandemic after all. According to a statement made to
Shacknews, "Pandemic Studios and its franchises will be relocated to the EALA facility in nearby Playa Vista.
"This move has resulted in a reduction in the work force at Pandemic...
"That said, the Pandemic brand and franchises will continue to live on. A core team of Pandemic developers will move to EALA and continue development on Pandemic games with a focus on quality, cost management and schedule integrity."
All very confusing considering Kotaku's
grandly titled tale on the subject was followed by a
Gamespy take-up on the story that read, "Kotaku has the official word that Pandemic Studios is no more. The speculation about the remaining employees' move to other EA studios is also true.
"According to EA Games Senior Vice President, Nick Earl, EA will carry on Pandemic's legacy by developing new games using Pandemic's franchises. Earl explained that the shutdown was issued in order to, "improve our cost structure, ensure quality and build schedule integrity for this studio."
