Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction from Ubisoft will include in-game advertising it was confirmed at the Microsoft Advertising's Gaming Upfront conference in New York this week.
Joystiq also reports that, "In addition, Ubisoft showed potential advertisers the 'heat maps' they created whilst developing the game. These maps highlight likely places players will go while playing. Advertisers will be able to place their ads in high-density areas, in order to ensure maximum exposure to their brands while in the game world."
Also reported is that Ubi's Jeffrey Dickstein described the opportunity to put an advert in the game's 'Choose your own torture' scenes. He's quoted as saying that while you're opting to torture your victim, "you might ask yourself, 'is this the new Degree deodorant I should buy?'"
Makes you wonder about
airport slaughter scenes for potential ad sites, especially ones you've got to meander through slowly.
