Japan Hardware Sales Drop, PS3 Still Top
It must have been a busy work week in Japan, because hardware sales continue to slide across the top of the board. Marginal gains were made by Microsoft's Xbox 360 and the DS Lite, which seems to have taken up some of the sales lost by the DSi this week.

The PlayStation 3 still sits pretty on top of the home console charts, with the Wii close behind it. In handhelds the DSi, despite the apparent cannibalising from its older brother, has the lead with a good ten thousand units over the PSP. But overall, Japan is very much a portable gaming nation, with both DSi and PSP outselling all of the home consoles.

Figures are below. Previous week's are in ( ).

Home Console
PS3: 29,977 (30,231)
Wii: 25,917 (29,965)
Xbox 360: 4,470 (3,662)
PS2: 1,951 (2,109)

Handheld
DSi: 42,199 (49,145)
PSP: 32,865 (33,508)
DS Lite: 6,550 (2,590)
