Famitsu Gives Xbox 360 Bayonetta Perfect Score

Seems like Japan really does love its T n' A, as Bayonetta is the latest game in the country's Famitsu magazine to get the prestigious 40/40 score. It's a big deal because only a very select few games get that high a judgment. Only twelve other games have received the same score, the first being The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in 1998. Other 40/40 games include Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy XII, Metal Gear Solid 4 and most recently, Monster Hunter Tri.

Now, technically this would mark Bayonetta down as the first multi-platform title to ever get top marks from Famitsu, but there's a kink in that theory. The magazine reviewed both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions separately, and the 40/40 score was only given to the version on Microsoft's console. The PS3 version, apparently handled entirely by SEGA, scored a total of 38 (10/10/9/9). So close.

Now, while many would simply say that it's only two points, it's still two points that can stir the most epic of flamewars across the Internet. Uncharted 2 fans could possibly become slightly annoyed as, rather than awarding Naughty Dog's excellent game 21/20, Famitsu 'only' scored 9/9/9/10 (37). Discussion boards are so perilous these days.
