Over the weekend, a German action group had set up a dumpster for the general public to toss any “killerspiele” they owned into the trash. The media-hyped event was a resounding failure as you might expect, with three games and a CD being the only 'donations' made.
The Action Alliance is perfect Daily Mail material, formed under a belief that computer games are directly responsible for killings and crimes. Binning this sick filth is the only way to save our children, apparently, and thus this event was staged. Among the games thrown away were Grand Theft Auto San Andreas on PS2 and Small Soldiers for Game Boy.
As fun as it is to watch uninformed censorship suffer a crushing blow, there is a rather sad story behind all this, as the group was organised by parents of the kids killed in a recent shooting. Unfortunately, the group misdirected their anger towards computer games, as the killer was reportedly a fan of Counter-Strike.
You can watch a news report below, plus said passer-by's dumpster findings.
small soilders was prolly dumped because the trade in value resulted in the customer owing money, and GTA san andreas was possibly dumped by the organisers!
how funny Germans preaching over killings when a certain German Dictator set the Bar!

No Wolfenstein?
Reminds me of Gameswipe's look back at video game media crusades. The big problem is the word game. They can slap as many 18certs on it as they want but parents will be 'disgusted' that these games are marketed to children.
These parents aside. I just wish others would get off the picket lines and do some bloody parenting.
Right, I'm off to make sure that claymore is where it should be.

Hitler was indeed Austrian, and doesn't it seem a little bit childish to bring him up at all? This isn't Fawlty Towers, y'know. Most Germans alive today weren't even born back then so it's more than a little bit pathetic to make the link.
