Nintendo of Japan has announced that it will be hosting a Super Smash Bros Melee tournament at this year’s SpaceWorld event, which takes place in Tokyo between August the 25th and 26th.
Using the Smash Bros Melee tournament system, players will be invited to take part in a massive knock-out competition to find the best fighter in attendance.
We know that Japan is a long way away but there is some good news. The Nintendo Show will be taking place in London between the 2nd and the 4th of September this year. We called Nintendo about the possibility of such a competition over here. “We do have some major plans for our European show,” said a Nintendo spokesperson. “We have seen what the Japanese have got planned for SpaceWorld and it is looking very special indeed. As The Nintendo Show falls a few weeks behind SpaceWorld, we have to find a balance between not upstaging the Japanese event and not being overshadowed by it. Rest assured that there will be all kinds of interactive events at The Nintendo Show”
