When it isn't
Modern Warfare 2 news, it's
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves news. The latest piece of that comes from the USA where SCEA has made a smart move for both it and for Sony Picture's retail partners. It will be enabling cinema goers to play
UC2 on the big screen.
Jealous? Yes. So, we asked SCEE whether we'll be getting that option in multilplexes and Odeons throughout the UK. The ever-helpful spokesman explained to us that, although it would be awesome (his words), there are no plans to repeat the experiment over here. Damn.
According to
Reuters, via a Sony press feed, 500 movie palaces throughout the USA will get the gig. How it's going to work is unclear. Does one lucky person get to play while everybody else's watches and yells insults? Or is this all about the multi-player? We're finding out.
Meanwhile, Mike Fidler, senior vice president of Sony Electronics' Digital Cinema Solutions and Services Group (phew), says that the big screen experience won't stop with Nathan, Chloe and that other woman from the
UC2, "Our goal in converting theaters to digital is to go beyond the traditional movie-going experience and focus on helping exhibitors find ways to fill seats."
"Gaming will be an important part of that equation."
Of course it will. Bow down before the future!
