Electronic Arts' EA Sports label is dropping further development of NASCAR racing games. According to headman, Peter Moore, some of the team that had been working on the US-focused racing titles will be moving to the label's new Mix Martial Arts (MMA) title.
Says Moore, "We've had to redeploy some of those folks. A number of the NASCAR team has moved over now to EA Sports MMA, which will be shipping next year. We're still a huge fan of NASCAR, but no plans right now to develop any further games for NASCAR from EA Sports."
The new - unlicensed - fighting game comes as a result of EA initially turning down the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) a few years ago (read the fallout of that one
here). This saw UFC going to THQ, and resulted in the release of the hugely successful
UFC Undisputed 2009.
