PS2 Pushes Hard Sales

New hard drive sold out before release.

Sony’s new HDD device, due for release in Japan on July 27th, has already sold out in pre-orders.

The announcement was expected, as the first shipment consists of just 10,000 units. Expected to go on sale for around 18,000 Yen (approximately £100), the release of the 40Gb drive, modem and broadband adapter combination marks the first-stage completion of Sony’s agenda for the console. With mice and keyboard to follow, Sony’s dream for a mass-market multimedia platform is looking more promising. Roll on, broadband.
