Marketing Moronics: EA's Pimping and Sexual Harrassment Apology

Didn't actually want nerds to attack women

A booth babe - not one of EA's, leave her alone!
EA has apologised for encouraging sexual harassment at the San Diego Comic-Con in order to sell the idea of a game. It had urged attendees to to commit "an act of lust" with booth babes in exchange for a "Night of lust" with those same girls to promote Dante's Inferno.

"We apologize for any confusion and offense (sic) that resulted from our choice of wording". So, what looked like "Grope a girl and we'll give her to you for the night" was poor choice of wording.

See, according to EA, 'Commit acts of lust' is simply a tongue-in-cheek way to say take pictures with costumed reps. Also, a 'Night of Lust' means only that the winner will receive a chaperoned VIP night on the town with the Dante's Inferno reps, all expenses paid, as well as other prizes."

So, on the one hand, what kind of greasy, un-showered reprobate takes an EA competition to be an excuse to touch girls you normally wouldn't be allowed within 100m of? On the other, what exactly did EA think was going to happen? Especially after its fake Christian protest?
