Activision Blizzard has confirmed that Band Hero, the mysterious younger brother of the Hero family, will land on the DS Lite with a drum peripheral.
The game will offer guitar, drums, vocals and bass to play on its poptastic soundtrack. The drum peripheral is effectively a skin that slips across the DS's d-pad and face buttons for players to tap away at, rather than having to use the touch screen.
Band Hero won't be available for the DSi, however. Activision told SPOnG that it's "Just a DS Lite SKU." It's not been confirmed quite why that is, though it may well be thanks to the fit of the drum peripheral.
The game will come with 30 master recordings, including offerings from Blink-182, Avril Lavigne, The Killers, KT Tunstall, and Fall Out Boy. New features listed by Activision include "a brand new Rockstar Editor to fully customise your band members, No Fail mode and Stage Stunts".

Or perhaps it because of the GBA slot that (I assume) the guitar peripheral fits into as shown in picture number 3.
