DC Comics Stepping into Dante's Inferno

EA's hack-'n'-slash gets comics tie-in

Posted by Staff
DC is set to publish a comics series based on EA's epic poem tie-in, Dante's Inferno, under its Wildstorm imprint.

The comic of the game of the poem will be written by Christos Gage (X-Men/Spider-Man, Avengers: The Initiative) and drawn by Diego Latorre (Hulk: Broken Worlds - he's fairly new to English language comics, but looks very good).

There's not really anything to see just yet, but the comic will be getting shown off at San Diego Comic-Con (July 23 – 26) with a preview 'Issue #0', a limited edition lithograph, a couple of signings, a panel and hands-on time with the game. The animated feature based on the game will also have its trailer previewed at the show. More details right here.

The comic will be on sale as of December. The blurb looks like this: "Dante’s Inferno is set in the poem’s vividly imagined nine circles of hell – limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, violence, heresy, fraud and treachery. Players take Dante on an epic descent through hell, battling their way through a terrifying gauntlet of demons to reclaim the soul of his beloved Beatrice.

"The Dante’s Inferno comic will highlight the action-packed moments in the game, and will also deliver more perspective on Beatrice’s experience, adding more depth to the game’s story and exploring more of the poem’s dramatic depiction of the underworld."

Dante's Inferno will be in familiar company, with a God of War comic set to launch in October at DC.
