Alan Wake Kicked Out of Sandbox - Just Needs Polish
A forum poster, called Ruutu, on the official Alan Wake site has taken the time to translate a recent interview with Remedy Studios. Within the interview from Finnish magazine Pelaaja, the Remedy guys apparently discuss why the Xbox 360 and PC game has been taken out of the sandbox. Yes, it's to do with story-telling. There is also a huge lack of news regarding the PC version.

The game is close... according to the interviewer, "I could go right now and play the game from the beginning to the end". He also states that a Remedy rep called Ranki, assures him that, "At the moment it's more about polishing and giving it the final touch we want for it..."

On the fact that the original - and hyped - sandbox nature of the game has been ditched, "We've tried everything, including the sandbox gameplay. It's not a good mixture with storytelling. For it we would have been forced to make such compromises in the game that we at Remedy don't want to. The most important thing for us is a compelling story and so we decided to go in that direction..."

On the PC version, "The possible PC -version is still uncertain. Since the beginning it has been thought to be obvious that the game would be released on PC too but it has been under silence for quite a long time now. We haven't been showed any PC demo since 2005. As before, Remedy leaves the question open by stating that they and Microsoft are currently talking only about the Xbox 360 -version."
