UK - Tony Hawk: Ride Xbox 360 Exclusive

UK PS3 and Wii owners get excluded

Posted by Staff
Activision UK has frustratingly announced how happy it is that Tony Hawk: Ride is an Xbox 360 exclusive in the Britain.

This is despite the fact that the initial announcement for the game stated that it is in development for the 360 and PS3 (by Robomodo) and the Wii (by Buzz Monkey).

So, finally something interesting (a bespoke skateboard peripheral) happens with the Tony Hawk franchise and a huge great chunk of British gamers will be denied access.

It's unclear at this stage whether this will be a genuine or timed exclusive, though SPOnG's betting on the latter.

This won't be the first time PS3 owners will have to sit on the sidelines while the 360 exclusively gets a massively-hyped game that's available on Sony's console elsewhere in the world - Rock Band, we're looking at you.

SPOnG told you a bit about Ride last week.

Of the board, Activision tells us, "Using a combination of accelerometers and motion sensors, the intuitive controller allows players to physically control the action by performing various movements and gestures on the board that directly translate into amazing tricks in the game. Without complex button combinations or analog sticks, gamers of all skill levels can literally step on the board and play!"

It sounds promising. Frankly, this exclusivity thing stinks like drains.

Thanks, MCV.
