A report is free and wild on the Internet and supposedly details of
Uncharted 2's multi-player modes, with screens supposedly supporting them to boot.
The hands-on comes from Chilean site going by the name of
Niubie. The site reports that it got the details from a Sony event held in LA last week, at which IGN, GameSpot, G4 and Destructoid were all supposedly present. None of the aforementioned are carrying confirmation of the news at the time of publishing. So, it's either a huge scoop for South America and laziness on the part of the USA, or it's a fib... or someone has just smashed an embargo in the face like a piņata on an wrestler's birthday.
It suggests that the game will include a three-player co-op option, traditional deathmatch and a capture the treasure mode. It is unconfirmed by Sony.
The co-op will apparently feature a storyline different to that in the main campaign. Deathmatch will reportedly feature four-on-four play, in which players pick different skills, while the treasure-finding mode is essentially capture the flag, but with shinier stuff.
The first
Uncharted game was single-player only.
That said, the report does tie in with looser details given by
Screw Attack last week. The site similarly stated that regular and co-op multi-player modes will be present and accounted for and that the co-op will be different to the single-player campaign. It didn't, however, have any further details.
The news is also supported by the
appearance of stand-in pre-order boxes for
inFamous. As well as stating that pre-ordering the open-world, super-powered romp will get you early access to the demo, the pack also states that pre-ordering the game will get you onto a multiplayer beta for
Uncharted 2.
That came after a teaser image appeared on the
US PlayStation site revealing that there will be an "electrifying announcement" relating to
inFamous and
Uncharted 2 today.
So, as it stands it looks like multiplayer in
Uncharted 2 is a good bet, but wait for confirmation from Sony before you accept the further details flying around.
