Square Reveals Final Fantasy Numbers

If you've ever rubbed a couple of brain cells together while stood in your local games retailer, you've realised that Final Fantasy is a big seller. Square Enix has revealed exactly how big.

The figure came as part of a corporate strategy meeting in which Square showed the lifetime sales figures for its top three franchises. Final Fantasy has sold more than 85 million units since it first appeared.

Dragon Quest (perhaps more impressive, given its lower popularity in the West) was next with over 47 million sales.

Kingdom Hearts, meanwhile, has chalked up 12 million sales in its life.

Now you know why there are more Final Fantasy games than there are brain cells in your skull...
