It has been a turbulent time at the top for Sega over the past couple of months. Massive management shift and a complete restructuring have all taken their toll.
Following the departure of Kazutoshi Miyake as head of Sega, the company has today confirmed that Yoshio Sakai from Sega Japan will take the reigns.
On taking up his new position Sakai commented: "This is a challenging time for Sega Europe, the transition from a hardware business to a multi platform business continues and I have a great deal to do in restructuring Sega Europe for a profitable future. My first task will be to develop a business model in line with our new multi platform strategy and I will be looking to ensure that our invaluable know-how is redirected in the most productive manner.
I am delighted that I will benefit from the guidance of Kazutoshi Miyake who will remain at Sega as a consultant to me in this transition stage.”
Sega of Europe has completely changed over the past year. The management team is unrecognizable and the company is now a software publisher as opposed to a Hardware manufacturer. Sega Europe now has only one big question left to answer. Will it pull the plug on European online gaming or not?
