Halo 3: ODST - Really the End for Bungie?

More Bungie confusion

Halo 3: ODST - Really the End for Bungie?
After what looked like a reprieve from Bungie's Halo 3 departure, it would seem once again that the developer's time with the game is coming to an end.

"We'll never say never, but currently Bungie has no plans to make new Halo 3 content beyond the release of ODST", a Bungie representative has said.

"We will, however, continue to support the Halo 3 online experience with regular updates to matchmaking playlists and wield the Banhammer as needed", the rep continued.

Yesterday, SPOnG told you that Bungie producer Allen Murray had said of Halo 3 content, "We'll probably be working on it for two more years." For a while there it looked like we could forget the earlier comments of Brian Jarrard, community director for Bungie, who had said that ODST would be the last of Bungie working on Halo 3 content.

Now it would seem that we should see ODST as Bungie's last hurrah on Halo 3. Maybe. Depending on who you believe.

SPOnG would like to suggest that, in order to prevent head spinning-related injuries among the gaming community, Bungie sorts its communications policy out...

In any case, the Halo 3 Mythic Map Pack is out on general release as of April 9th.

Its PR talk there will definently be another Halo game with the MasterChief don't forget Bungie themselves said 'We have not seen the last of the Chief' and also hints towards a Halo 4.

SuperSaiyan4 of course there will be more Halo/Master Chief - but the article is asking whether Bungie will be producing any of it? The answer is probably not!

Microsoft own the Halo franchise.
Microsoft have created a Halo development.
Frank O'Conner (formerly content manager for Halo) is in charge
Ryan Payton who worked on MGS4 has also joined.

Whilst Bungie will continue Halo 3 support via its website, future Halo content is an entirely Microsoft Game Studios Production.

You're probably right on that one as I just remembered that Bizarre Creations has finished relations with Microsoft and the Project Gotham Racing franchise which is Microsoft's IP and someone else will be making it.

However with Halo I guess Ensemble Studios did Halo Wars and I guess someone else could make the next Halo.

It will be interesting to see in what happens I just hope if there is another Halo game its not built on the Halo 2 engine and takes only 2yrs to make...
