Nintendo, Capcom, Others Win Japan Pirate Ban

It's a legal revolution.

Capcom has announced that it, Nintendo and 53 other software manufacturers have won their case in Japan to ban the sale of the R4 Revolution for DS. Capcom terms the device as "a typical model of so-called game copying devices".

The case was brought last July by the companies in a Tokyo District Court "against multiple parties". According to Capcom, "The companies filed their action pursuant to the Japanese Unfair Competition Prevention Act (2008 (WA) No. 20886) seeking an injunction to stop the distribution of the game copying devices."

The ruling is "an acknowledgement of the validity of Nintendo’s and the other companies claims, confirming the game copying devices are a violation under Japan laws", says the statement from Capcom.
