The PlayStation Portable 2 just won't go away. Okay, so it won't actually turn up either, but where's the story in that?
Following stories earlier this week regarding a sliding door PSP-4000 - which is an aesthetic
overhaul of the PSP-3000 and not a new PSP at all, industry insider and super Shiny man, Dave Perry has tweeted:
"I hear Sony FINALLY has the PSP 2. And thank goodness, they've removed the stupid battery-sucking UMD disc drive. I'm excited!" Perry wrote on both his Twitter and Facebook accounts."
This, of course, would sit nicely alongside
last year's statements from John Koller, director of hardware marketing for Sony Computer Entertainment America, when talking about the death of UMD and the life of PSP2. Back then he said, "Sony is pushing developers away from its 'Universal Media Discs' and towards digital distribution of games via the PSP store. Someone misinterpreted the new push as 'PSP2' development..."
Still, we'll wait for more facts...
