No need for difficult social interaction anymore as EA confirms Sims Online

No life? No problem!

It had to happen didn’t it? Actually, we were quite surprised it took this long. Electronic Arts has announced that it will be releasing a version of the human interaction simulator, The Sims that is an entirely online experience.

The new game will be hosted on Electronic Arts new online gaming forum at EA.com and will be the first to try out the company’s new multiplayer technology.

Described by EA thusly: “Take your Sims to an online world where you get to be yourself or whoever you want to be. In this world you have your own piece of land to do with as you please. Create a house, coffee bar, dance club, museum, or whatever you can imagine. Explore the neighborhoods around you and meet scores of Sims along the way. Build a network of friends to enhance your power, wealth, reputation and social standing. Be a peacemaker or pest, a recluse or rabble-rouser. In this open-ended, online world, you choose your role, your attitude and your destiny.” The Sims Online will please fans of the game, which debuted over a year ago.

It seemed mad that the original was released with no online capabilities other than the ability to download a killer hamster but now EA’s strategy becomes clear.

So, no need to go out and meet real people any more. No longer will you have to worry about saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. The social faux pas will be a thing of the past. You can just lock yourself away in you bedroom and Sim it up. Beware!
