If you're reading this in the West, don't expect to see
Final Fantasy XIII inside 2009.
Yoichi Wada, president of Square Enix, has been speaking to Reuters. The news agency reports, "Overseas launches of the latest "Final Fantasy" game will come in the business year from April 2010 or later, Wada said."
The words "or later" actually leave the possibility open that we won't even see it
inside 2010.
Japan, however, will have the game before the end of 2009, according to Wada. Guess it won't be one of those simultaneous global releases Square's
looking to push.
Wada also spoke in reference to acquisitions, stating, "Talks are going on with various companies at home as well as abroad." Square has reportedly recently shown an interest in Eidos, which has just announced that it has been
approached with a potential buyout.
