Capcom is remaining evasive on the release date of
Bionic Commando, despite several major retailers having it pinned to February 13th.
In an announcement of upcoming launch dates today Capcom refused to pin the title's release down beyond "the first half of 2009". Similarly, a Capcom rep told SPOnG, "First half of 2009 is all I can say at the moment." A number of prominent UK games retailers such as
Play.com,
Amazon and
GAME have had a February 13th release date for the game for a while, however.
While Capcom has not publicly pinned a date to the title, multiple retailers haven't plucked February 13th from their posteriors. It's likely that Capcom or one of its distributors has, at some point, said that the game will be out on that day.
With February 13th fast approaching and release dates specified for other Capcom titles into March, however, it looks like the title will be with us later in "the first half of 2009" rather than sooner. With previous information from Capcom having pegged the game as "Winter 2009", however, we could have been looking at the back end of the year, so SPOnG won't be moaning.
Bionic Commando is set to hit the PS3 and 360 initially, with a PC version to follow. You can read more about it on SPOnG's
dedicated game page.
