Konami has teased the next Metal Gear game with a mysterious image over on its Japanese website.
There's not a lot to go on. Just an equation that reads "Ą + ! = (power button symbol)", followed by the phrase "A NEXT METAL GEAR IS..." (You can see it to the right).
It's about as enigmatic as a teaser image can get, but the colouring of the equation looks reminiscent of Xbox 360 branding - particularly with the power symbol. Unless the colouring around your 360 power button is red, that is...
Of course, the power logo itself is used on a wide range of consumer electronics including, of course, the PlayStation 3.
Rumours have abounded that Konami is looking to stick MGS4 on the 360, but it seems unlikely that the publisher would call it the "next" game. That said, the use of the word "A" suggests there could be more than one new game in the pipeline. Or it could be bad use of English, given that this is Konami's Japanese site - a possibility that throws all kinds of confusion into the mix.
In case it helps in your rampant speculation, SPOnG pulled the Konami's Flash file location out of the web page's code. It ends: /mgst/images/mark.swf
We get an added 's' - probably for 'Solid'. We also get a 't' - more than likely for 'teaser' and the word 'mark' - probably because of the exclamation marks.
There was a spot of Apple branding in MGS4, with Snake using an iPod. Maybe an iPhone entry to the series could be on the way with a version of Metal Gear ACĄD?
Whatever it is, we have to admit that a bit of pre-Xmas teasing certainly gets the juices flowing.

And yet AGAIN Spong taking a bashing to the Xbox 360! Wow Spong turned PS3 fanboys I thought I would never see the day but there we are finally could they go any lower? Who knows.
I know exactly which platform the gaming is coming out on and since Spong (Tim) are now always bashing the 360 and putting Microsoft down I will now no longer give any information regarding anything in future as I have done in the past with my inside information.
And yet AGAIN Spong taking a bashing to the Xbox 360! Wow Spong turned PS3 fanboys I thought I would never see the day but there we are finally could they go any lower? Who knows.

Pretending the fact a lot of 360s stopped working (and continue to stop working) is a bit like pretending World War 2 didn't happen. Also, I quite enjoy Spong's colloquial style and they constantly add a little irony and humour to what might otherwise be boring articles. I like the fact they can be funny. I don't think it's a display of fanboyism, simply a statement of fact.

It's a shame that you're having to personalise this to me, but that's life I guess.
If you do know what platform the next Metal Gear is going to appear on but you don't want to share it with SPOnG readers (and especially with the SPOnG forum regulars who also read your posts) then at least post it somewhere else; but at least post it and your evidence for it somewhere and share it with other gamers.

iPhone seems like the answer.
Metal Gear Ac!d Mobile came out not long ago and what better platform then the iPhone for the next mobile to port it over to.
Or it could be a beefed up version in development for longer.
The ! in Ac!d is too obvious to ignore... even with the MGST in the url which seems to go against it.

Nope not saying anything I been watching the comments closely as far as the 360 is concerned in fact MCV have been 360 bashing in their own style for a while now which I hate.
Yes I know which lets just say 'electrical product' its scheduled for...
Oh and if anyone is interested last bit of info Res Evil 5 Demo is now available for download but on the Japanese marketplace enjoy (if you have a gold Japanese account that is).

When I joined SPOnG I was strapped to a chair and had a Sixaxis glued (glued!) into my hands. I was forced to play MotorStorm for a solid week without sleep until I had forgotten the face of Bill.

SS4 (real name withheld) has indeed be front and centre to me personally by text and the SPOnG office by phone with a number of tips in the past. As yet I've not used one that I recall, and from the look of it I won't be getting any more - this is a great shame.
But at least it's Friday and the weekend may lead to a general feeling of good karma and pre-festive goodwill to all SPOnG Forum Posters.
