Now, we know that console players couldn't be more 'Meh' about the fact that
World of Warcraft's Wrath of the Lich King expansion is launching on the 13th of November. It would also seem that
Lord of the Rings online top-man, Jeff Steefel, is unconcerned as well - even if his
Mines of Moria add-on launches hot on the heels of the King of Lich on November 18th.
In a recent interview
*, he's said the following about the competition, "We’re less concerned than we would have been in the days where there was one game out there and everyone played only that one game."
(You can read SPOnG's
interview with Jeff here.)
Back on the Lich King beat, however, and not only is retail readying itself for
a launch night that will compete with that of
Gears of War 2 but it's also ready for the add-ons. Yup along with Succubus Demon: Amberlash figures, and more than likely Frostmourne (the runeblade that Ner'zhul, the Lich King, thrust from his Frozen Throne....) BradyGames has also readied its 3522-page
World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Official Strategy Guide, which is due out the day before launch.
As we say, we know console gamers will be mostly blasé if not utterly dismissive of this whole PC online gaming experience. In terms of
actual revenues contributed to the video games industry, however, we'd suggest that this attitude could be just a little short-sighted.
