According to Japanese statistics compilers Media Create, the PlayStation 3 is not flavour of the week in its home country. Not only has the once trailing Xbox 360 beaten it in sales (again) for the week 20th to the 26th of October, but its elder sibling, the PS2 has also sold more. The Wii, as expected, has outsold everything by a substantial margin.
In terms of the handhelds, however, Sony PSP rules the roost, having beaten Nintendo's DS by 37,500 units.

In other news, if the 360 keeps up its present level of sales (and that's 163% of its average lifetime weekly sales figure) and the PS3 doesn't sell another single unit, it'll still take the 360 over 206 weeks to catch up in Japan.

I am not bothered about 360 catching up with the PS3 in Japan imo the PS3 has still yet to catch up anywhere near the global 360 sales.
I am just happy cos of all the slagging off the 360 got for poor sales in Japan so tables have turned for how long? I don't know but for now its a good thing.

somehow i dont think he even understands his logic, i imgaine SS4 Dreams of aworld run by MS,
You know how the Buy`n`Large from Wall.e did everything in the enitre world thats SS4 dream of a MS world, i referred it to Wall.e as i felt something like SOYLENT GREEN would go over his head, and also Wall.e is a MS game and previous posts show how everything must have an MS twist on it to be understood.
That SS4 Would do anythign for that Soylent Green, i mean MS.

I think its worth re asking SS4 this question every time he slates SONY. I'm not here all the time, so if someone could do that for me, that would be great.
If we can persist with this line then, maybe, we can achieve one of two good things:
1) SS4 realises that he is a bigot, and changes his ways. (As bigotry goes, hatred of a games console is pretty low grade: race, sex, religion, football team, the PS3? If there’s a convention for hate groups (might be called UKIP or the Daily Mail readers club), the PS3 haters would get laughed out the hall for just not making sense, even though “sense” is not a big requirement for such folk.)
2) SS4 gets bored and goes away, though there’s little chance of that happening as he doesn’t seem fazed by his own habit of repetition.

he bangs on about the reason he says such things is to rub it in the ps3 "fanbabies" (his word not mine) faces.
this is because they are always going on about how superior they are, etc etc. the thing is, i only ever really hear ss4 saying such things (one company being much better than the rest) and, and, he is always the first to comment on anything ps3, or xbox (sales/technology) related stories.
go figure.

The nice industrous chaps of NeoGAF have compiled all the monthly sales data for the three consoles for this year. Interesting tibits:
-PS3 has outsold Xbox360 by a million so far this year,
-Wii has outsold the others combined by 3 million, Wii has outsold PS3 by 12 to 5, Wii has outsold Xbox360 by 3 to 1, Wii sold more in the US then Sony in all three regions, Wii sold more in Europe then Xbox360's in all three regions.
-notice the small impact of MGS4, the non-impact of GTA4 and the small impact of Tales of Vesparia for the Xbox360 in Japan.
-nice to see the Xbox360 to sell a bit more evenly among Europe and the US. almost on par with Wii and PS3 differences.
-Interesting difference between regions, sales go up in Sept. in Europe and the US except for a decline in Japan. Tales of Vesparia breaks the cycle for the Xbox360 in Japan though.
