The Redknapps: careful with the at knee Jamie!
Yes, Christmas (or the 'The Holidays') is upon retail, with stocks filling shelves, and discounts being rolled out like fat, red-dressed men from a pub. Nintendo, is preparing to convince UK families to spend big on the Wii and DS.

To this extent, it has co-opted the talents and opinions of a star-pockmarked line-up of the UK and Eire's celebs in a series of TV ads. In SPOnG-style we are précising the stars and their Wii-related quotes:

Pop sensations Girls Aloud said, "We all love our Nintendo DS’s, whether racing with Mario Kart on the tour bus or looking after our Nintendogs in the studio at the end of a hectic day, there’s always something to keep us laughing and entertained - the different DS colours mean we never get them mixed up too!"

Former Liverpool and Spurs bench-warmer, Jamie Redknapp commented, “I love the Wii. It's great you can be active while having fun and Louise, Charley and I can all play it together. My dad's got into it recently too."

'You can be active with having fun and Louise..."? Phew!

Louise Redknapp, moved into possibly S&M territory, "Mario Kart is a lot of fun - especially when I beat Jamie."

Also quoted are Fern Britton, "iconic singer" Ronan Keating and his lovely wife Yvonne Keating. So, as we say, prepare for a whole bunch of Nintendo ads to make you hide behind the sofa.

You gotta' hand it to Ninty, they sure have got the marketing right this Gen. Maybe Sony should start to try and do better, I hardly ever see PS3 ads on the TV and I never see a PSP one.

I expect the Wii this Christmas to once again be rarer than a pork chop in a synagogue.
