Peter Molyneux, founder of Lionhead (and Bullfrog if you go that far back), doesn't think the PS3 has had many 'OMG!' moments yet. He does think, however, that
LittleBigPlanet could be the 'defining' title for the console.
Speaking about whether the PS3 has any 'defining' titles, Molyneux said, "I always remember back to
Final Fantasy VII, when I first played
FFVII, that to me defined the genre. Those were the 'oh my god' moments, I don't believe they exist. I haven't seen many of those on the PS3."
Having seen a fair amount of
LittleBigPlanet, however (the Media Molecule offices are around 200 yards from Lionhead), Molyneux reckons that could be the big one. Asked if it could be the 'defining' title for the PS3, Molyneux said, "Yeah it could be. The honest answer is without actually playing it it's very hard to say. But looking at it, as I said, it's something that looks different, it's something that, whenever I speak to anyone who's touched it they always come away really excited and you do get that sense of excitement from that."
