Paul Oakenfold Signs on For Footy MMO
Club scene veteran Paul Oakenfold, who has put his name to more commercial endeavours than SPOnG's had embarrassing encounters with the opposite sex, has signed on to score an upcoming footy MMO, Interzone Futebol.

“In addition to Paul Oakenfold’s extraordinary and recognized music talent, one of his proven strengths is forging creative partnerships with the most successful stars and projects in the entertainment industry”, uttered the president of Interzone Entertainment, which is publishing the game, Marty Brickey.

Indeed, there is almost nothing Mr Oakenfold will not put his name to. His past efforts include commercials for Coca-Cola, Toyota, Saab and Motorola (the credits for which appear higher in his website's biog than any of the non-branded music he's produced) as well as the Bourne Conspiracy video game, The Matrix Reloaded, Collateral and Shrek II. Oakenfold has also worked with artists ranging from Justin Timberlake to the Rolling Stones to... Brittany Murphy and... Hunter S. Thompson. Not even kidding. He's been around a bit.

SPOnG, for its part, admires Oakenfold's complete lack of regard for the purity of music and willingness to sell himself to the highest bidder in the name of his retirement fund. Can't be long now until he needs to start drawing on it, after all...

Interzone Futebol is described by Interzone Games as "a virtual world game centered on futebol (soccer in the U.S.), the most popular sport in the world. The first city in this virtual world is Rio de Janeiro, and includes not only player-controlled futebol action and competitions, but also includes a 3D world of Rio complete with neighborhoods, shops, social interaction with friends, and the club scene".

The game is being aimed at a fourth quarter release in Brazil, with an international launch to follow.
