Burnout Bikes Delayed

Update beans spilled

Bad news for those looking forward to putting their thighs astride a great, big chopper this month in Burnout Paradise. The release of bikes into the game has been delayed.

An update from Jeremy Chubb, producer at Criterion Games, tells us that the 'Bikes Pack' (formerly codenamed 'Davis') is now scheduled for September. It was previously aimed at August. No exact date has been given.

The delay hasn't stopped an embarrassing deluge of drool pouring forth from SPOnG's collective mouths in anticipation of the pack, however. Chubbs tells us that from the word go an FV1100 street bike and the Japanese Firehawk will be available from your nearest Paradise junkyard, with "more in store once you’ve played a little way through the bike-specific gameplay."

Chubbs also discusses the addition of a day/night cycle, stating, "You’ll see day cycle through to night and see the city change with it. Paradise City takes on a life of its own once the rush hour traffic thins out!

"During the day, you can play a variation of our Burning Routes challenges. Beat the target times on specific routes to complete 'Burning Rides'. The big change here is that these routes feature multiple checkpoints – they’ll take you all over the city. At night, complete a different set of routes – the 'Midnight Rides'."

There's more! Chubbs also tells us, "We’ve also introduced a dynamic weather system to change the feel of the city – another Burnout first".

We're promised 70 new challenges in total with the pack. 35 of those will be of the timed, multi-part variety seen in July's Cagney update.

If you haven't already checked out Burnout Paradise, let SPOnG's review convince you.
