Square Enix has confirmed that
Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon will hit the Wii in Europe.
The game is scheduled for Autumn, having hit Japan in December last year and with release planned for America in July.
The sugary sweet RPG stars Chocobo (you might have guessed that from the title) and Cid, who arrive in a rather odd little town where the inhabitants lose their memories every time the bell tolls. It sounds like a right ball ache, but fortunately a helpful youngster going by the name of Raffaello has turned up and created dungeons of memories to help the townsfolk remember who they are and where they put their shoes. That leaves it up to Chocobo to go and retrieve the memories from the dungeons in which they dwell.
The game features the work of character designer Toshiyuki Itahana, he of
Chocobo Tales and
Crystal Chronicles fame.
Our corporo-quote du jour comes from John Yamamoto, president and CEO of Square Enix Ltd, who says, "Chocobo has been a firm favourite with
Final Fantasy fans for years, and players will be able to see him take centre stage and come to life in his very own adventure.
"
Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon will appeal to fans of the
Final Fantasy series along with younger Nintendo Wii owners looking for an engrossing adventure."
