US TV sees 'Big Fight' with Video Games
Late Night With... to be re-invented because of games.

As part of the announcement that some chappie by the name of Jimmy Fallon will be taking over from some bloke called Conan O'Brien on a late night television show, which is apparently quite popular on the USA's NBC channel, video games cropped up as the enemy!
Yes, a gentleman called Lorne Michaels (who we believe is executive producer on the Late Night show - as well as some comedic outpouring called Saturday Night Live), stated:
This may come as a relief to Sony Computer Entertainment's top man, Kaz Hirai, who said last week that, "I feel that our competition is not Microsoft or Nintendo, but basically any form of entertainment that is competing for the consumers’ attention".
At least one US-based television network has already surrendered.

This is no surprise. TV has always been the bastard enemy of games, especially since the rise in popularity.
TV execs thought that by probably giving games no decent tv coverage, that games would starve to death for lack of exposure, but how wrong they were.
In fact gaming has thrived nicely in hand with the internet. Now TV studios fear games just as much as the net, because at last, we, the good people of the world have more control and we know what we want (and its not reality tv, dammit). We don't have to dance to their schedule drum, and do just fine online.
I say let the fools tell their jokes to viewers about games and gamers, because the games industry will have the last laugh, as the gaming scene grows and their viewers disappear.

You touch upon an important point...schedules...with the advent and rise in popularity of DVRs and YouTube, and peoples growing savvy with them. television best serves its advertisers, and hence itself, when it gets you to watch in real time, with no provision for ffwd'ing through the adverts And the late night slot is probably prime online gaming time for some key demographics.
