God of War III to go Online?

Mystery job posting suggests so...

It looks like God of War III might be the first game in the series to feature online play.

A job advertisement recently put up on Sony Computer Entertainment America's website has a listing for an 'Online GamePlay Programmer'. The job listing contains the following text:

"Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) Santa Monica is seeking an online gameplay programmer to join the team behind the critically acclaimed AAA titles "God of War" and "God of War II."

The successful applicant will be called upon to "Interact with gameplay programmers to make existing and new code support desired network functionality (including networking of gameplay state, lobbying, commerce, chat, security, and similar)."

The job could, of course, be for another game. SPOnG has contacted Sony to find out whether this posting does in fact apply to God of War III and whether it will feature online play, but expects to be told something involving the words 'rumour' and 'speculation'.

It should be noted that the listing contains a disclaimer at the bottom that states, "Please be advised that the following job description may not reflect a position that is currently available. This job description may exist to simply gather interest, and may or may not ever become an approved open position. Thank you for your interest in SCEA."

So, the job may never come into existence. But it's being advertised. But Sony says it might not exist. How does anyone ever get a job for that company? SPOnG, for one, has always favoured applying for jobs that we know exist, but there you go...
