UK software giant Electronic Arts has announced that it will be backing Nintendo’s GameCube with some of its biggest titles.
SSX Snowboarding, Madden NFL 2002, FIFA, and NBA Live have all been in development for several months now, and all of the games will be showing, in some form or other, at E3 in Los Angeles next week.
An Electronic Arts spokesperson said, “We are delighted to announce our support for the Nintendo platform. Our relationship with Nintendo dates back over ten years and we feel that the new console is ideal for our games. We will also be announcing other titles in the future, external from our EA Sports range, though no details can be confirmed at this time.”
He went on, “We consider the GameCube to represent a sizeable share of the entire games market when it is released later in the year and next year in Europe. It is certain that, as the games industry as a whole expands dramatically, GameCube will become a major contender in the race and as such, we are backing it with some of our most successful series to date.”
From having a mere seven titles confirmed three months ago, the line-up now stands at nearly fifty. Hopefully enough games will be made available at launch to see the GameCube take its rightful position at the forefront of the games world.
