UPDATE: SPOnG contacted Eidos to see whether the new multi-player maps will be made available for the PC version of Kane & Lynch. We were told, "The maps are only for 360 and PS3 at this time".

Kane & Lynch: Dead Men's intriguing multi-player mode is getting beefed up with four new maps. Well, we say 'intriguing', what we mean is "surely more interesting than the single-player, we hope".

Any way, these maps are coming veeeerrry soon for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. They're due on April 17th, in fact - and they are free. That's right, no more money to extend your Kane & Lynching.

Here's the skinny according to Eidos - "Coming in April, all four of the new maps will be released in one downloadable pack entitled ‘The Dope Bag’. Each of the four maps features its own unique scenario: take on the local dope dealers and the Russian mafia at an LA construction site in ‘Clean Cut’, clash with the Yakuza in Tokyo in ‘Hooker’s Trail’, raid a drug baron’s mansion in a Venezuelan jungle in ‘Flying High’ and ambush General Fuentes’ military convoy in the streets of Havana to steal the gold hidden in his vehicles in ‘Hasta La Vista’."

SPOnG, for one, is glad to see them. IO Interactive actually bothered to do something original for online multi-player instead of just sticking in a couple of different deathmatch modes. Here's how Gareth SPOnG described it in his Kane & Lynch review, "you work with other players to carry out a heist, splitting the loot amongst you. However, at any point you can choose to turn traitor, killing and taking other player's cash. Doing this makes you a more valuable target for other players, while the victim returns to the game as a cop, gaining a finder's fee on any returned loot."

The mode was, however, a bit limited. SPOnG has to wonder if these maps are being offered for free because they were meant to be included in the original release but there wasn't time in the rush for a pre-Christmas release...

No mention has been made of a PC release of the maps.
