Saw: The Video Game Rumours Galore

Or should that be 'Gore'?

We can't wait... really.
We can't wait... really.
In a quote shocking in its echoes of the BBFC's ruling in Manhunt 2, Mark SPOnG has told us that his experience of the first Saw movie was "...unremittingly bleak".

Why bother telling you that? Well, mainly because the 'news' of Saw: The Video Game has ramped up since the GDC began this week - and no one else in the SPOnG office has been bothered to see the movies. Yes, a hell of a confession we know.

Apparently writer and director, James Wan, has been saying how excited he is about the idea. We say, 'apparently' because we've gone over to the MySpace blog quoted all over the Interweb and we can't see him saying:

"Maybe its a good thing that Leigh and I are naive to the video game world and that we're writing it like its a movie!"

Now, this is most probably because we tend to look at MySpace pages, think "Oh, no, this is somehow giving News International cash" and exit rapidly. It could also be because the entry was removed or it could be that the initial source, Whatupthug, know about another James Wan blog.

Anyway, a Joystiq report from GDC states that the co-founder of Brash Entertainment, Mitch Davis, has 'let slip' that the game will be developed for PS3 and Xbox 360 by Zombie.

Zombie is the team behind the America's Army, the US military-endorsed video game that encourages the youth to sign up to defend the freedom of the whole goddam world. Goddamit.

So, there you go, a video game that is just bound to get freedom-loving right wingers the world over frothing at the mouth. In fact, when they discover that the game is being developed by the same people responsible for a US Army recruitment device, there is potential for the anti-gamers to actually implode due to the paradox.
