Deadly Creatures To Terrorise Wii

THQ has announced that it plans to set your Wii crawling with nasty things that you wouldn't want to find in your sleeping bag. Fortunately, it plans to do so with a new game rather than a strange new form of biological attack - Deadly Creatures is what the game will be called.

Described as an action thriller, the game follows the "entwined adventures" of an armoured scorpion and a tarantula as they make their way through the desert and try to stay alive in the face of Gila monsters, tarantula wasps, black widows and... go on, guess... yeah, us lot. The evil humans.

THQ tells us, "Deadly Creatures takes full advantage of the Wii’s unique motion-based control scheme and allows players to fully experience every pounce and tail sting."

The game is being developed by THQ's Rainbow Studios, which most recently worked on Disney Pixar Cars: Mater-National

Let's hear what a couple of bigwigs from THQ had to say on the subject. From Randy Shoemaker (best name ever?), director of global brand management for THQ - “Deadly Creatures is an amazingly innovative game concept, and exemplifies THQ’s commitment to creating original new IP for the Nintendo Wii platform. With Deadly Creatures, we are raising the bar for all 3rd party Wii titles, and focusing on deep, compelling gameplay for a largely untapped audience of Wii gamers.”

From Nick Wlodyka, executive producer and general manager at Rainbow Studios - "Deadly Creatures is a creepy, cinematic thrill ride, where the distinction between predator and prey can shift around every corner. With brutal motion-controlled combat, a dark compelling story and some of the best visuals to date on the Wii, we are excited to bring Deadly Creatures to a large core Wii audience that hungers for a new experience."

Core audience, untapped market, mature game. Got it. Thanks, guys. Now dig into the video and screens below to see what you reckon.
