Word has come from Activision that it plans to release new downloadable content for
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare via Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.
Activision tells us that the content will take the form of multi-player maps. What else does it tell us? "The upcoming downloadable content will thrust gamers into a hot zone of added combat across a variety of intense multiplayer locales." So, not a right lot then.
We did also get the obligatorily bland corporo-quote to pep us up, "We’ve demonstrated our commitment to delivering the best multiplayer experience in
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and that continues with our plans for new downloadable content”, says Infinity Ward’s Community Manager, Robert Bowling.
“We’re excited about the new maps, and the added gameplay variety, and we can’t wait to wrap things up and get online with everyone", he continues.
So, just when will it be wrapped up? "Spring" is what we're told.
While Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling says everyone at the developer is pretty excited about the content, he may not get the opportunity to work on
Call of Duty 5. Rumour has it that, in spite of
CoD4 being the best-selling title of 2007, the franchise
might be getting passed back to CoD3 developer Treyarch.
Anyway, SPOnG's happy to see the content coming. SPOnG's military man, Cliff Caswell,
rates CoD4 very highly and we're far too scared of him to not agree with his evaluation.
