If you wander out into the streets of Brooklyn, you might be alarmed by 'wanted' posters for a chap who's been engaging in a spot of assault with a deadly weapon - a man named Niko Bellic. SPOnG can happily report that New Yorkers need not be alarmed. This is the latest piece of marketing by Rockstar for
Grand Theft Auto IV.
If you do happen to have a tip on Niko's whereabouts, however, there is an e-mail address for you to send your information to. Unfortunately, the Liberty City Police Department isn't going to be much help. In response, you'll receive the message: "We are all presently out to lunch at the moment, but will get back to you when we get around to it." You'll also get the suitably heroic image of the LCPD below...
Meanwhile, Rockstar is readying itself for a media outcry over
GTA IV. Rockstar Games vice president Dan Houser said, "I expect it because we've had so much of it in the past. I wish people would treat video games the same as other media. They seem to not want to do that for reasons that I don't understand. It's a convenient enemy for people."
†One analyst also boldly stated that
GTA IV will outsell
Halo 3, although not necessarily straight away. "Maybe the first week
GTA IV sales won't do what
Halo 3 did, but I can almost guarantee they'll probably outsell
Halo 3 in the first year", said Janco partners analyst Mike Hickey.
