Guitar Hero III: Boston's Tease Party
Friday, it turns out, is a day to rawk'n'roll... for your dad. Activision has released a brand spanking new track pack of really old songs for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

Up for grabs in the Classic Rock Track Pack are master recordings of Boston’s Piece of Mind, Foreigner’s Juke Box Hero and Journey’s Any Way You Want It. When the name 'Boston' cropped up in the list there was an unrestrained cry of joy from the beardy corner of the SPOnG Underwater Castle, only to be followed by a shriek of dismay as the Evil Editor realised More Than a Feeling isn't being made available. The rest of the castle sighed as it was enveloped in warm waves of relief...

You can get the new track pack on PSN and Xbox Live.

Harmonix and MTV Games, meanwhile, have announced that they will soon be shipping standalone peripherals for Rock Band to American retailers. As of February 12th, US gamers who couldn't afford the whole three piece shebang up front will be able to start bulking up their band kit and employing roadies for trips to their mate's house.

First up will be the drum kit at $79.99 (£40), followed by the guitar peripheral (which can also be used for bass) on April 1st at $59.99 (£30). Meanwhile, we'll keep waiting for the March 6th European release...

“The release of standalone instruments allows Rock Band musicians to enjoy the full Rock Band experience, including drum, microphone and guitar head-to-head modes, creating a whole new level of competitive fun”, offered Alex Rigopulos, CEO and co-founder, Harmonix. “We’re also delivering a stand-alone wireless guitar solution for all versions of Rock Band as well as providing the opportunity for consumers to build their band one instrument at a time.”

Journey has some of the best dad rock songs ever, shame they arent as well known in the UK as in the States.
