Microsoft's 'We Are Sorry' Game Named
Following Microsoft's promise of a free full arcade game to say sorry for the Xbox Live outages... of course we mean 'intermittent Xbox LIVE issues', over the Christmas period, the game has been named.

It is Undertow (800 Microsoft points), and it went live on XBLA last November, as reported here. The game will be available from Wednesday, 2:00am PST (10:00 GMT) through Sunday, 11:59pm PST (7:59am GMT).

This is the second freebie offered by Microsoft in the last six months by the way, the previous one - Carcassone - came as a 'thank you' in November.

So, on the upside we've got to say well done to Microsoft for following through on Marc Whitten's (General Manager, Xbox LIVE) January 3rd promise.

On the other hand, remember we said that the game has been available since November? Well, what if you already own it? We've asked Microsoft this exact question and will report back.

This and questions such as the following posed on gamerscoreblog by user, mike, are reflective of the general set of mixed emotions being generated by the 'issues' and the 'sorry':

"I'm not at all interested in this game. But even if I was, my console red-ringed on Saturday afternoon, and I won't have it back in time for the absurdly brief download window. I'm afraid this announcement just makes me angry. Very angry. "

The anger is generating heat in the opposite direction as well, with users such as d0x30 remarking that, "My live was off and on for a month or so just like everyone elses. I didnt expect anything free and like I said im no fan of the game and would have preferred points...this will do too because you didnt owe me anything to begin with.

"I have never seen so many greedy people in one place. You should all be ashamed. 5+ years off XBL without a hitch and they encounter an issue which I imagine has more to do with the new dash update then they lead us to believe and you people freak out. Grow up."

What's your take? Tell us in the Forum.

LOL at the guy whos console red ringed. that just shows how bad MS are at dealing with the public.

for those who say losing a month of online play is nothing to be mad about are fools. maby if it was a free service like the PSN they'd have no arguement but its not. its a product that they pay for. it costs money. if your TV disapeared for a month or your home heating/cooling or internet decided to go on holiday i think you would be pissed. especially if it took weeks for the service provider to admit there were SOME flaws... frankly that is a pathetic bit of customer service and deserve the law suit
