Bungie has let loose the dogs of downloadable content for
Halo 3 with the Heroic Map pack - the screens of which you can see below.
It's good to see that since announcing
its separation from Microsoft ("It's not you, it's us... we just need some space... sure we like your friends... no we're happy to go out for drinks with
Mass Effect) the fine people at Bungie haven't left us hanging. They have even provided an FAQ for the new map, some morsels of which include:
"...a trio of amazing new maps, each with a completely different purpose – and each brand new to the Halo universe. No remakes (yet)!"
Some downloads squeaked out early on Monday rather than today's due date - they are all now available however.
The Halo 3 Heroic map pack is a collection of three new maps for Halo 3. Rat’s Nest, Standoff and Foundry."
The price is 800 Microsoft Points (approx £7). And Bungie has a thing or two to say about that pricing:
"Microsoft decided the pricing based on a number of factors. Bungie has no decision making ability in this area."
That does not sound to us as if Bungie's too chuffed with it... maybe a trial separation is the sensible thing?
Finally, Microsoft tells us that, "The maps of the Heroic Pack are available in matchmaking today to those who have purchased the download. All three maps will become available as a free download via Xbox LIVE Marketplace in Spring 2008, just prior to the next wave of all new “Halo 3” multiplayer maps".
But we bet you're not going to wait.
