Wii Points Card Shop Goes Live

Trade your stars for Wii Points

Wii Points Card Shop Goes Live
European members of Club Nintendo - a Nintendo customer reward scheme - can now trade in their stars for Wii Points in the Wii Points Card Shop.

It's been a long time coming, with Nintendo having promised Europeans they would be able to to convert their love of Nintendo into Wii Shop Channel goodies last year.

The wait is over, however. Now, instead of just being able to get backgrounds, the European Nintendo faithful can fritter their loyalty away on Virtual Console titles.

Stars, if you're not familiar with them, are points awarded to Club Nintendo members when they spend cash on Nintendo hardware or first party titles.

You can get the full skinny on how it works over on Nintendo's site. Go! Spend!

I think many Nintendo gamers have been waiting for this announcement 4points = 1 Wii point is well a bit unfair I reckon but I guess you cant be choosy especially if you have accumulated many stars. I might see if I still have all my stars on my account because I heard something a while ago about losing them or something if you dont use them by the end of the year?

ill have a couple of thousand wii points then, awesome. got everything i want out of the VC so far though unfortunately. I only really buy the stuff that never came out over here or i never got the chance to play (like sin and punishment, and paper mario respectively). although me and a friend did have a mariothon, and i downloaded the nes mario games for that, inc. lost levels

does anyone know where i can register more games? the old site is down i think and ive got galaxy and umbrella chronicles to register

The new site, as linked to in the news piece, is up and down quite a bit at the moment; apparently the real launch is meant to be tomorrow, so it's getting a bit overloaded as everyone flocks to see what's happened. I've managed to register two games on there, today, though be warned that you now have a three page survey to fill in before the points are added to your account. Another slight warning, they're only giving you 200 points per game, now, instead of the old 250.

If you've got a lot of points, i.e. 15,000+, you might want to check out the limited edition cast metal statue of Link astride Epona, whilst it's rearing up.

Hey Spong,

i'm still waiting for a "Wii annihilates PS3 in Japan" news topic. You posted some stupid news topics two weeks in a row about PS3 "PWNING" Wii, because they outsold the Wii with a staggering 4000 units. Surely now, after the Wii selling almost 40.000 units more than PS3 last week, the system deserves the same treatment the PS3 got, wouldn't you think?

Do come up with a fitting name.

thx.

Yeah right
The site was down again today and the low value points 300 etc are always sold out !
What did Nintendo expect..........
Every man and his dog had stars now they want payback before the end of the year or they'll lose their points and there are only 3 weeks before the end of the year !
