Beat-'em-up fans, please make sure your jaw is firmly clenched so that you can allow it to drop - in fact, we advise moving away from any hard objects that might prematurely break its fall. The first screen for the mysterious
Street Fighter IV has been unveiled.
Yeah... possibly we did build that up a little much.
The other good news is that it's not quite so mysterious any more! If you've made it to this paragraph, you've no doubt looked at the screen and then come back, so let us put your first concern to rest. No, it's not 3D. Although we're told that the screen does come from the game's engine, it's 2.5D - 2D gameplay with 3D graphics.
As you'd expect from a full-blooded sequel, there will be new moves, locations and gameplay features, with the six-button control system making a return. Ryu and Ken will turn up (which was pretty obvious, given the
teaser trailer) with Chun-Li and Dhalsim joining them.
Beyond that, details remain scarce. The most pressing unanswered question, of course, is what platforms
Street Fighter IV will appear on. PS3, the Xbox 360 and the arcades are all a pretty safe bet, but whether we'll see Wii, handheld and PS2 versions is still very much in the air.
